Why should we care about Third world starvation? Survival of the fittest taking place?

I always see commercials about a lot of Africans in "Africa" dying of starvation and its land in famine... I Personally think that its just "evolution" and or "Survival of the fittest" that only the strongest survive and we shouldn't try to help them but just let them die off right? Why are people so worried about making donations for them and not trying to increase "OUR" new generation of culutre and technology to Survive to be the strongest...?
