How do I get rid of the snake that comes onto my front porch every day?

My front porch is a sunny spot, and apparently this 6 foot long black snake loves it. It goes there every day. However, I don't like it. I can't garden or step outside my house or have company come to my front door because the snake is there. Animal control won't take it because they "don't do snakes" and I'm petrified of them. What do you suggest I do?
