Am I still very well protected if I continue taking my pill the day after my last pack?

Hi, I am 17 years old and I need you're advice with use of Alesse birth control. I tend to be quite responsible when taking my pills and usually take my pills on time every day. I am wondering if once im finished my 21 pack of alesse if i can continue taking my next 21 pack the day after I stop taking the other pack, (therefore continue taking horomone pills). The reason I am asking is because I am going on vacation and at the time I will be on vacation I will be on my period and i want to enjoy myself with my boyfriend (long-term relationship). Another thing is I have 'mistakenly' continued taking my pills 'once' before and im wondering if I should do it again for these personal reasons. When I made this mistake before I continued taking the pill again normally meaning I had my periods) and my cycle didn't mess up BUT my main question is "Am I still very well protected if I continue taking my pill the day after my last pack?" Meaning i wont take any placebo's...
