How can I save my change?

Ok so more than likely everyone has tried this or thought about trying it. Trying to save change. Most of the time we all end up spending it for something. That is my problem. What are some ways that you have saved your spare change and not used it. I tried a five gallon jug but that doesnt work. I dont wanna put it in a bank because I dont trust banks. But I need to save as much as possible. HELP ME OUT!!!
